Easier maintenance, less downtime.

Support for STP, RSTP, and MSTP provides redundant links, prevents network loops, increases network reliability and minimises downtime for essential applications. These switches can even withstand temperatures between -5 to 50°C. Dual software images and configuration files allow the switch to quickly change between firmware versions and configurations to minimise downtime.

10G connections
Each switch in the series has four 10G SFP+ ports, which allows the most suitable media type to be chosen and mitigates network bottlenecks. The flexible uplink connections in both 1G/10G speeds deliver on data-intensive tasks.

Optimised for Video Surveillance

D-Link’s exclusive Surveillance Mode provides a Web UI designed for video surveillance: it gives you an instant snapshot of your topology, makes features easy to access, and simplifies management of your surveillance network.

Layer 3 Lite
Including IP interfaces, IPv6 Neighbor Discovery (ND), ARP-Snooping Prevention, IGMP and MLD Snooping, LLDP and LLDP-MED. The DGS-1250 series also includes IPv4/IPv6 static routing capabilities for a scalable and more efficient network.

QoS
The series supports 802.11p Quality of Service to deliver data to devices based on the priority and type of traffic, and bandwidth Control to reduce unwanted network broadcast traffic. And the Auto-Voice and Auto-Surveillance VLAN features allow voice and video traffic to be automatically identified and prioritised.

Fewer wires, more PoE power.

All DGS-1250 series PoE switches support IEEE 802.3af/at with a high PoE power budget of 370W. This means more power to remote devices through single Ethernet cables without needing nearby power outlets, and results in faster and easier PoE deployments of VoiP phones, wireless APs or network cameras.

Security down to the port level.

The D-Link Safeguard Engine helps protect against malicious traffic flooding the network in the event of a malicious attack. The series supports IMP-Binding which is an easy method to control nodes during IP conflicts and auditing issues, and it prevents ‘ARP spoofing’ and 'man-in-the-middle' malicious attacks.

Network security is further reinforced with ARP Inspection, DHCP Snooping, and a host of security and authentication features such as 802.1X port-based authentication, port security for 64 MAC addresses per port. The series also includes network protection functionalities like Access Control List, and DHCP Server Screening that only allows legitimate DHCP Server IP addresses on specific ports.

Network management options to suit your business.

The DGS-1250 series comes with the intuitive D-Link Network Assistant (DNA) utility for which simplifies the discovery of all devices using the D-Link Discovery Protocol within the same L2 network segment and displays them on screen for instant access. Simultaneous configurations and basic setups of all discovered devices, including password changes and firmware upgrades, can then be done easily.

The series can also be managed through the web-GUI that has 11 selectable languages, or the free, SNMP-supported D-View 7. Each switch includes a dedicated console port, and the full CLI1 provides more control, precision and repeatability.

How to set up VLANs
Virtual LANs (VLANs) allow networks to be divided into separate broadcast domains. In a typical Layer 2 network, all hosts connected to the same switch are on the same broadcast domain. Without the use of VLANs, each network segment would be required to have its own switch infrastructure, with routers managing communication between each switch segment.
