The D-Link DAP-2590 AirPremier N Dual Band PoE Access Point provides businesses with a solution for deploying next generation draft 802.11n Local Area Networks (LANs). Designed for indoor installation, this Access Point enables network administrators to deploy a highly manageable, robust and secure wireless network.

Solid Hardware with PoE support

Enclosed in a sturdy metal chassis, the DAP-2590 passed the strict UL 2043 testing, achieving “Plenum Rating” with its material which has been proven as fire-resistant and would furthermore produce low levels of smoke if the occasion were to arise.

For installations in areas where power outlets are not readily available, the Access Point integrates 802.3af Power over Ethernet (PoE), to ensure flexibility and easy set-up.

Enhanced performance

The DAP-2590 delivers reliable Wireless N performance with no dead spots and rates of up to 300 Mbps in either the 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz wireless band1. Support for the Wi-Fi Multimedia™ (WMM) Quality of Service feature makes it an ideal access point for audio, video, and voice applications. Additionally, this Access Point supports load balancing to optimise high volumes of traffic and redundancy for fail-safe wireless connectivity.

Advanced wireless security

The DAP-2590 provides industrial grade wireless security by supporting both Personal and Enterprise versions of WPA and WPA2 (802.11i) with support for RADIUS server backend. This Access Point also includes MAC Address filtering, Wireless LAN segmentation, Disable SSID Broadcast, rogue AP detection, and Wireless sheduling to further protect your wireless network.

The AirPremier N Dual Band PoE Access Point includes support for up to 8 VLANs for implementing multiple service set identifiers (SSIDs) to further help segment users on the network. With multiple SSIDs, the number of physical APs deployed can be reduced, hence keeping costs to a minimum.

The DAP-2590 also includes a wireless client isolation mechanism to prevent direct client-to-client communication, and a wireless scheduler to shut down the wireless LAN at certain times of the day.

Multiple operation modes

The DAP-2590 can be configured in any one of its multiple operation modes: Access Point, Wireless Distribution System (WDS) with Access Point, WDS/Bridge (No AP Broadcasting) and Wireless Client. With WDS support, network administrators can set up multiple DAP-2590s throughout a facility and configure them to bridge with one another while also providing network access to individual clients.

Advanced Network Management

Network administrators can manage all the DAP-2590's settings via its web-based configuration utility (HTTP), Secure Sockets Layer (SSL), Secure Shell

(SSH), or with Telnet. D-Link's AP Manager or D-View SNMPv3 management module may also be used to configure and manage multiple access points from a single location. In addition to a streamlined management process, network administrators can also verify and conduct regular maintenance checks without wasting resources by sending personnel out to physically test that the device is functioning correctly
