Ligue de Foot des Pays de la Loire

As an entity dependent on the FFF charged with organising regional football competitions, the Pays de la Loire Football League has around 1,000 clubs and 167,000 licenced players. It is also a Regional Football Training Institute (IR2F) - one of 12 national centres. Training is provided at the Technical Regional Centre managed by the Pays de la Loire Football League. It is precisely in this context that the Wi-Fi network architecture needs to be upgraded.

Challenge

The Regional Technical Centre (CRT) already had a Wi-fi infrastructure, but it could no longer address the challenges of transforming training, which is using digital technology more and more. Faced with the proliferation of terminals and connections, the IT manager at CRT, Bertrand CHESNEAU, decided to upgrade the wireless network infrastructure in 2021.

The aim was to roll out a high-performance solution to take current usage into account while integrating future requirements and providing new guarantees in terms of security.

Solution

In partnership with the Nantes-based integrator i2ee, D-Link’s NUCLIAS Cloud solution was adopted, which allows for zero-touch deployment of Wi-Fi devices and easy network management and monitoring.

The i2ee integrator handles remote management of the entire solution for the Pays de la Loire Football League, which is possible with the NUCLIAS Cloud solution. The i2ee teams can monitor the network in real-time and intervene quickly in the event of a problem. In addition, NUCLIAS Cloud automates alerts for faster maintenance.

“The NUCLIAS Cloud solution is simple and intuitive, addressing today’s digital transformation and security challenges by combining efficiency with performance. This is a solution that we are very familiar with at i2ee and which has already proved its worth as it is already being rolled out to many of our customers.” explains Renaud CHATELIER - managing partner of i2ee.

Wireless coverage and networking capability are provided by 10 D-Link DBA-X1230P access points that incorporate the latest generation of certified Wi-Fi 6 with transfer speeds of up to 1.8 Gbps.

Greater network efficiency, significantly reduced latency, nearly four times greater capacity than previous Wi-Fi standards, and better Wi-Fi security with WPA3 and multiple user authentication possibilities. Another advantage is their ease of deployment.

“This is something we were very impressed with! Production of the 10 access points was completed quickly, with the NUCLIAS Cloud’s Zero-Touch deployment taking place at the end of the day.” says Bertrand CHESNEAU, IT manager at CRT.

The benefits of this new installation are noticeable for users who are now experiencing a significant change in the quality of service (speed and performance), particularly during ramp-ups, as well as better Wi-Fi coverage throughout the site.

“After a collaborative roll-out within the League, our role is to anticipate, maintain and act quickly on the network in full remote mode. There is no doubt that the Pays de la Loire Football League is now playing in League 1 in terms of its Wi-Fi infrastructure,” concludes Renaud CHATELIER, associate director at i2ee.

Results

A significant change in the quality of service (speed and performance) particularly during ramp-ups, as well as better Wi-Fi coverage throughout the site.
