How do I disable ping from the WAN side on my DWL-1700AP and DWL-1750?

This FAQ is for the DWL-1700AP and DWL-1750.

When you block WAN ping, the public WAN IP address will not respondto ping commands. Pinging public WAN IP addresses is a commonmethod used by hackers to test whether your WAN IP address isvalid. Certain applications such as mIRC and ICQ may not work ifthe WAN IP address does not respond to ping commands.

Step 1 Open a web browser and type the IP addressof the device in the address bar (default is 192.168.1.50 wirelessand 192.168.0.50:2000 wired). Press Enter.

Step 2 The default username is admin (all lowercase). The default password for the DWL-1700AP isroot (all lower case). The default password forthe DWL-1750 is blank (nothing). Click OK.

Step 3 Click the Tools tab andthen click Admin to the left.

Step 4 Click the Disable PING from WANSide checkbox.

Step 5 Click Apply to save thenew setting.
