As part of the LoRdi initiative aimed at providing lycée pupils and trainees in Occitania with an innovative and universally accessible tool and encouraging digital usage in class, the Occitania region has created a "Lycée numérique" ("Digital lycée") label which attests to a school's digital performance, both in terms of its management and equipment, and its educational applications and staff training.

Challenge

D-Link, in partnership with the integrator ENGIE Inéo, has been commissioned to restructure and modernise the IT networks of some 224 lycées in the Occitania region, in order to offer pupils services at their place of learning that are at least equivalent to those they are familiar with at home or in public or private spaces with free WiFi.

Solution

"Our choice of the D-Link company is simply the choice of a tight team that is both very attentive, very responsive and who knows how to bring adequate solutions to the problems that the region imposed on us"
- Stéphane Simo, Senior Business Manager at Engie Inéo.

ENGIE Inéo has opted for:

  • The solutions Xstack DGS 3630 and DGS 3130 in order to respond to the region's needs with regard to product homogeneity, simplified management of switches, cost and upgradability to 10 Gigabit.
  • Centralised Wi-Fi which also allows management of Wi-Fi in real time without connection problems, while at the same time offering a better WiFi connection in each class.
  • And finally, the software solution D-View 7 used for overseeing, monitoring and managing SNMP equipment at the 224 lycées in the region.

Results

Exactly 224 schools have been equipped with new data cabling and upgraded Wi-Fi systems. Familiarisation of the staff on site has been rapid and ENGIE Inéo is now handling the operational readiness management of the D-Link hardware.

The Occitania region, D-Link and ENGIE Inéo are long-established partners, which simplifies their relationship and has ensured fast and streamlined skills transfer.
