How do I update my device's firmware manually?

Please follow the instructions below to upgrade the firmware.

For Camera

During the upgrade process, please note the following:

  • Use a wired connection: You will need to use a wired connection between your device and router using an Ethernet cable when upgrading the firmware.
  • Keep your device plugged in Do not unplug the power adapter or Ethernet cable during the upgrade process.
  • Don’t run other programs: Do not start or use other applications on your computer during the upgrade process.

Step 1: Check your connections.

Make sure your device is connected to your router with an Ethernet cable for the upgrade process; do not use a wireless connection when upgrading the firmware. Also, make sure you use a computer connected to the same router as your devicedo not perform this process through a remote connection to your device over the Internet.

Step 2: Download the latest firmware to your PC.

Go to the mydlink downloads page to download the firmware file for your device, and unzip it to your desktop or a folder on your PC.

 

Step 3: Open your device’s web interface.

Run your device’s Setup Wizard and write down the IP Address for your device.

Enter this IP Address into your web browser to access your device’s web interface.

Enter admin as the User name, enter the password for your device, and then click OK.

Step 4: Execute firmware upgrade process.

Go to MAINTENANCE > Firmware Upgrade to go to the Firmware Upgrade page. Click Browse... to select the firmware file you saved and unzipped on your computer in Step 2.

After selecting the firmware file, click Upload to start the upgrade process.

The upgrade process will begin, and will take about 2-3 minutes to complete.
Do not start or use other applications while upgrading your device’s firmware, and do not hit Stop, Back, or Reload in your web browser during the upgrade process.


Step 5: Verify the firmware version and refresh the page to view your device.

Once the upgrade process is complete, click on the Firmware Upgrade link on the left to return to the Firmware Upgrade page.

For Router

Step 1: Go to the support downloads page and download the firmware file for your device.


Step 2: Open your device's web interface.

Open Internet Explorer, and browse to your device's mydlink URL (http://192.168.0.1 or http://dlinkrouter).


Step 3: Log in and go to Manual Settings > MAINTENANCE > Firmware Upgrade.

Enter admin as your User name, and enter the password that you created in the wizard to log in.


Click on MAINTENANCE from the top menu bar, then click on Firmware Upgrade from the menu on the left.

 

Here, click on Browse..., select the firmware file you downloaded earlier, then click the Upload button.
