D-Link, the multinational networking equipment manufacturer, has announced two new unified access points to ensure reliable, high speed Wi-Fi connectivity – the Wireless AC2200 Wave 2 Unified Access Point (DWL-7620AP) and the Wireless AC1300 Wave 2 Unified Access Point with Smart Antenna (DWL-6620APS).

From small to medium businesses and enterprises with a growing ecosystem of connected devices, to high-footfall locations connecting the public such as hotels, shopping centres, schools and universities, D-Link’s new unified access points enable the deployment of a flexible and scalable wireless network to offer unparalleled Wi-Fi connectivity.

The DWL-6620APS is ideal for creating future-proof networks, using the 802.11ac Wave 2 standard, and allows combined data rates of 1267 Mbps (867 Mbps for 802.11ac and 400 Mbps for 802.11n) over the air. MU-MIMO enables simultaneous communication with multiple clients, delivering significantly improved capacity and throughput.

Its Smart Antenna technology selects the optimal radiation pattern for each client and uses digital beamforming to enhance the antenna gain and achieve the best throughput. This allows multiple access points to be deployed in close proximity to provide connectivity for large number of devices within a finite space, by greatly reducing interference.

The DWL-6620APS can operate as a standalone access point and be centrally managed by D-Link’s Unified Wireless Controllers. When deployed in conjunction with D-Link Wireless Controllers (DWC-1000/DWC-2000), up to 1,024 DWL-6620APS, the access points can be centrally managed. The DWL-6620APS also supports PoE (Power over Ethernet) for rapid deployment.

Similarly, DWL-7620AP Tri-band access point is ideal for small to medium businesses looking for a scalable high speed wireless network. It leverages the full potential of 802.11ac Wave 2 to provide unparalleled connectivity with ultra-high combined data rates, delivering combined wireless speeds of up to 2,200 Mbps via simultaneous use of 3 wireless bands, and supports wired link aggregation to maximise throughput of the network.

Automatic radio frequency management lets each DWL-7620AP work with its neighbours to optimise coverage; avoiding channel interference by automatic channel selection and adjusting transmission power, and boosting power if it detects a nearby device has failed.

Easy to mount on a wall or ceiling to provide the best wireless coverage, and with integrated PoE, installation is simple - even in areas where power outlets are not readily available. For network administrators, D-Link’s central management system enables automatic discovery and group configuration, together with wireless resource management to ensure excellent coverage with minimal configuration time.

D-Link’s Wireless AC2200 Wave 2 Unified Access Point (DWL-7620AP) and the Wireless AC1300 Wave 2 Unified Access Point with Smart Antenna (DWL-6620APS) are the latest additions to the company’s portfolio of wireless networking solutions.
