The DES-1005P offers an economical way for SOHO users to not only enjoy the benefit of having a five-port network switch, but having a five-port network switch with one of those ports PoE enabled. Users can then easily create a PoE home surveillance system even in locations where power sockets are limited. The addition of a PoE port to a five port switch allows SMB users an alternative to larger, more expensive switches, without having to sacrifice the need to power PoE devices.

The DES-1005P PoE Fast Ethernet Desktop switch provides a cost-effective way for SOHO and SMB to benefit from the Power over Ethernet (PoE) technology by allowing users to power up devices such as wireless Access Points, network cameras or IP phones directly from the network cables. The DES-1005P is equipped with one PoE port and integrates D-Link’s Green Ethernet technology to save power when the switch is not in use. Its fanless design makes it completely silent so it is ideal for offices, libraries or meeting rooms.

Plug and Play PoE (Power over Ethernet)

The first port in the DES-1005P supports the IEEE 802.3af PoE standard. This port supplies PoE power up to 15.4 Watts, and will automatically detect the power that a connected PoE device requires so no configuration is needed. This makes the DES-1005P a very convenient solution for applications that are far away from power outlets, or when it is necessary to minimise the clutter of extra power supplies.

QoS (Quality of Service)
The DES-1005P is able to classify network traffic by assessing the existing 802.1p field in the Ethernet frame, and forward network traffic from its ports depending on their priority, with the PoE port having always the highest priority. This allows for a smooth integration of video, voice and data traffic without delays or loss of quality.

Auto MDI/MDIX crossover
All ports in the DES-1005P support automatic MDI/MDIX crossover, eliminating the need for crossover cables or uplink ports. Each port can be plugged directly to a server, hub, router, or switch using regular straight-through twisted-pair Ethernet cables.

Power-saving technology

The DES-1005P is part of D-Link Green™, D-Link’s eco-friendly technology, providing energy savings, reduced power consumption, and a longer product lifespan without sacrificing operational performance or functionality. This switch implements the 802.3az Energy Efficient Ethernet (EEE) standard, which can save a substantial amount of energy by detecting the port status, putting them in low power, stand-by mode when no network traffic is detected. The included Energy Star Level V power adapter ensures an efficient power conversion and extended life. Additionally, the Green Ethernet™ technology in the DES-1005P can detect the length of the network cables connected to their ports and provide only the right amount of energy required. This helps businesses to save money by reducing their electricity bills with no compromise on performance.
