How do I enable WEP Encryption on the DWL-G510 and DWL-G630?

Windows 98/ME/2000

Step 1 Open the D-Link AirPlus G Wireless Utilityby double-clicking on the bar graph icon in your system tray(lower-right corner of screen). Select SiteSurvey.

Step 2 Highlight your SSID in theAvailable Networks Authentication for theauthentication mode. Click Connect.

Step 3 The Data Encryption box should be checkedand grayed-out. If not, then enable encryption on your access pointor wireless router first. Auth. Mode should be set toShared Authentication. Under Key Length, select 64or 128. Click on Default Key 1 and enter the Hex encryption keythat was entered into the wireless router or access point. The keylength will depend on the selection made under the key length. Thekey is HEX, meaning A-F and 0-9.

  • 64-bit 10 characters
  • 128-bit 26 characters



Step 4 Click on the OK button tosave your settings.

 


Windows XP

Step 1 Right-click on the two computer monitoricon in the system tray and select View Available WirelessNetworks.

Step 2 Click on the Advancedbutton. Uncheck the Use Windows to configure my WirelessNetworks box and click on the OKbutton.

Follow steps 1-4 from the Windows 98SE/ME/2000 configurationabove.

 


If your wireless network is not showing up under sitesurvey:

Step 1 Open the D-Link AirPlus G Wireless Utilityby double-clicking on the bar graph icon and selectEncryption.

Step 2 Put a check in the Data Encryption box andselect Shared Authentication in the auth. modemenu. Select 64 or 128 for the key length. Under key 1 type in theHex encryption key that was entered into the wireless router oraccess point. The key length will depend on the selection madeunder the key length. The key is HEX, meaning A-F and 0-9.

  • 64-bit 10 characters
  • 128-bit 26 characters

Step 4 Click on the Applybutton to save your settings.
